These little creatures were inspired by the Hummingbird Moths we see on late summer evenings here in the Upper Peninsula. During the sculpting process, they seemed to have a spark of something childlike about them. Seeing them all together made me think of a group of intrepid elementary students just about to enter their classroom on the first day of school. Instead of science and social studies I envisioned these little moths fluttering around helping people embrace their own creativity and imagination. What training would our little moths get to be able to do this? What would their foibles be? These are things for the collector to ponder and smile about when they look at their Imaginary Moths each day.
Materials are hand dyed wool, combed and felted by hand, armature wire, Lapis Lazuli and Czech Crystal beads, jewelry wire, glass beads, polymer clay, and acrylic paints. Each Imaginary Moth will be signed and numbered.
This Moth is 6 Inches Tall
